Between 2005 and 2014, they moved their portable church location several times to accommodate their growing congregation, settling in at the local high school auditorium. In the fall of 2014, they purchased 38 acres directly adjacent to the high school and enlisted SPACE to aid in the planning, programming and designing of their new facility.
Pastor Doug had previously toured a number of Life.Church campuses, and felt the general floor plan layout of those facilities also fit his church’s space needs. Also the Architect of Record for all Life.Church facilities since 2006, Thomas Small of SPACE was able to modify a prototype Life.Church plan, to fit the specific requirements of Orchard Church.
The plan arrangement was organized around a 12,750 square foot (mol) rectangular auditorium space and an associated 8,843 square foot lobby. Children’s classrooms are served by a dedicated front entrance which is also part of the main lobby, and a central office suite is placed at the rear of the building.
The exterior architecture of the building is “Lodge/Adirondack” which correlates with the local regional style. Interiors are intentionally efficient and durable, to obtain maximum cost efficiency with the initial build, and to address lower maintenance and upkeep costs.
Their new 50,000 square foot building currently serves more than 2,200 attendees each week.
